This policy is part of the Terms of Use. It says what this tool is for, and what it must never be used for. The goal is simple: help people, never hurt them.
What this tool is for
Using public information to:
- check and protect your own accounts, domains, servers and brand;
- do security work you are authorised to do, with written permission or on your employer's assets;
- do journalism, fact-checking or research in the public interest;
- check whether a message, website or payment request is a scam, fraud or phishing attempt;
- learn OSINT on targets you own or that exist for practice.
These are the five purposes you choose from before each investigation. Pick the one that is true.
What you must not do
Harming people
- Stalking, harassing, intimidating, threatening or embarrassing anyone.
- Finding where a person lives, works or spends time in order to contact, follow, confront or pressure them.
- Doxxing: collecting and publishing a person's private details.
- Blackmail, extortion or any attempt to force someone to do something.
- Looking up an ex-partner, a neighbour, a colleague you are in conflict with, or anyone else because of a personal grudge or curiosity.
- Targeting children, or looking up anyone you believe is a minor.
- Discriminating against anyone, or guessing protected characteristics (for example health, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity).
Decisions about people
- Deciding about someone's hiring, credit, loans, insurance, housing or tenancy, or access to services using results from this tool. It is not a screening or background-check service and its results are not reliable enough for that.
Crime and deception
- Fraud, impersonation, phishing, social engineering, or preparing any of them.
- Preparing or carrying out unauthorised access to computers, accounts or networks. This tool does not scan, log in or exploit anything, and you must not use its results to do so against systems you do not own or are not authorised to test.
- Anything illegal where you are, where the target is, or where the data is.
Misusing the service
- Trying to get around the login, the rate limits, the purpose requirement or the audit log.
- Automated mass look-ups, scraping or building a database of people from the results.
- Reselling, republishing or sharing results about private individuals.
- Adding or using face-recognition search, or any feature that identifies a person from a photo, with this software.
- Breaking the rules of the third-party services the tool contacts.
- Choosing a purpose that is not true.
Sensitive situations
If you are a journalist or researcher, collect only what the story or study needs, protect your sources and any people named, and delete data you no longer need. If you are a security professional, keep your written authorisation. If you think a lookup could put someone in danger, stop and do not continue.
Consequences
The operator may remove access without notice, delete saved data, keep records and report suspected crimes to the authorities where allowed or required. You may be personally responsible under the law for what you do.
Reporting misuse
If you see misuse, or believe you are the target of it, write to [OPERATOR_CONTACT]. Include the time, what you saw, and how to reach you. See also the Privacy Policy section on lookups about you.
